One of our customers is a cabinet manufacturer who purchased a booth from us about 15 years ago. While their system performed well for many years, the exhaust fan gradually became significantly louder over time. They approached our team to help them find a quieter solution that would also allow them to continue using their existing building penetrations for the exhaust system.
To address their issues, we implemented a solution that included a QEI fan upgrade along with a custom duct stack design. This allowed them to use the existing building penetrations without adding anything additional. The results were immediate – the noise levels were dramatically reduced, and the booth now operates so quietly that ear protection is no longer required for operators.
Following the installation of the new, more powerful fan, the customer experienced issues with a personnel door becoming difficult to open due to change in the air pressure. Their control system was also outdated, so we installed a VFD (Variable Frequency Drive). This allowed them to precisely adjust exhaust levels and balance the air pressure within the space. The new VFD was successfully integrated with their existing control system, providing improved functionality without requiring a complete system overhaul.
Cabinet manufacturers have unique requirements for their finishing process and need precise environments and cycle times for their operations. Our team was happy to help devise solutions to integrate new exhaust and control equipment and help our customer utilize their existing equipment without any downtime.
