Finishing System for All-Electric Aircraft Manufacturing

One of our clients is an aerospace and defense company designing, manufacturing, and selling high-performance electric aircraft. They manufacture Vertical Take Off & Landing (VTOL) electric aircraft. They were looking to build a new, all-electric paint finishing system for their facility to scale their operations. They needed a system that could accommodate a completed aircraft. The process of painting these aircraft requires consistent temperature and humidity year round. They also required that this solution be accomplished without the use of natural gas to heat the booth during the cure cycle and manage climate control for the spray cycle. 

Design and Engineering
The Rohner engineering team designed a fully electric system including a 50-foot wide, 70 foot long, and 20-foot-high cross-draft paint booth, an integrated curing system, and temperature and humidity controls that use hot and cold water to maintain proper humidity and heating within the booth. 

Customization
The booth also features custom, 50-foot hangar doors with built-in lighting and state-of-the-art heating/cooling recovery coils to recover the warm and cool air leaving through the exhaust stacks and returns this energy in the form of warm/cool water to the intake coils. This reduces the amount of energy required to operate the system. All this to ensure proper curing temperatures during the cure cycle as well as humidity control during the spray cycle.
