Retrofit Booth for Multi-tool Paint Finishing
One of our new customers is a multi-tool manufacturer using Cerakote coatings in their paint finishing process. They had an open face booth they had been using for years in their paint finishing that was no longer large enough to accommodate their production needs as they needed to scale. They were also facing challenges with the paint adhesion due to the open face booth design.
Requirements
The customer spoke with our team at Rohner to discuss options for retrofitting doors, a makeup air unit with de-humidification, and controls so they could increase throughput. As they were looking to increase production, the first step was to expand the booth to a larger footprint and add doors so they could control overspray and material waste during the finishing process. The second step was to make up air unit controls and a makeup air unit with de-humidification to control airflow and provide a safe, enclosed working environment for their team.
Challenges
There were some challenges during the build process, as this was a retrofit and not a new booth. The installation team had to change the location of the roof curb to fit the new makeup air unit and make sure the makeup air unit was working for the specific requirements of Cerakote, which is a thin film ceramic coating designed for tactical and metal products.
Outcome
Our customer was extremely happy with the results of the retrofit for their paint finishing system. They are able to increase production, improve the coating adhesion, and reduce pollutants in their facility with the new air unit and controls. Rohner was able to provide the custom solutions they needed so they didn’t need to replace all of their existing equipment.
